The Amputee Coalition is dedicated to ensuring equal access and inclusion to all individuals with either provisional or permanent visual, hearing, mobility, and cognitive disabilities. Listed below are different disability types and the connected accommodations to ensure that all individuals working on the platform are able to engage and thrive together.

Please note, privacy is our priority, however, Amputee Coalition staff may be informed of your need for reasonable accommodations if additional support or planning is needed.

Visual Disabilities

  • Provide text-based materials in accessible formats, such as screen reader-compatible documents.
  • Use descriptive alt text for images and graphics.
  • Ensure the learning platform is compatible with screen readers.
  • Provide audio descriptions for videos.

Hearing Disabilities

  • Provide captions for all audio and video content.
  • Use visual aids and written instructions in addition to verbal instructions.
  • Ensure the learning platform supports closed captioning.

Mobility Disabilities

  • Ensure the learning platform is accessible via keyboard navigation.
  • Provide alternatives to live participation, such as written assignments or recorded presentations.

Cognitive Disabilities

  • Provide clear, concise instructions and avoid complex language.
  • Break content into manageable chunks.
  • Offer additional time for completing assignments or assessments.
  • Offer flexible deadlines for assignments.
